Blog • Cochise County Jail - January 2026 Progress report
In November 2025, Cochise County voters said yes to building a new Cochise County Jail, financed by a 0.5% countywide sales tax that will take effect on July 1, 2026. A project team has been established and is meeting regularly. Project updates will be posted on this blog as we move forward.

Cochise County is reaffirming its commitment to fiscal transparency by directing residents to the State’s Arizona OpenBooks portal and the OpenGov.com platform that powers many public-facing accounting tools used by governments nationwide. These tools make it easier for the public to see how tax dollars are spent.

WHO IS THE POLKADOT PAJAMA BURGLAR The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's assistance in investigating a recent burglary at the Uptown 3 Theater in South Sierra Vista. The suspects initially arrived on a motorcycle and were seen in the area again this evening. The theater has not been in use for a number of years.
